Teaching Beyond Speed: Supporting Slow Learners
There are students who are different in their learning capacities and speed in a given classroom. There are students who learn fast, and some need time and encouragement. These students are otherwise known as slow learners. Slow learners do not lack intelligence; they are just slower in learning and require the right instructional methods. In order to be able to meet their needs, teachers can be instrumental in offering an inclusive learning environment that could facilitate both academic and emotional growth. The learner can be slow and struggle to comprehend, memorize, and use concepts because of a number of cognitive, emotional, or environmental issues. A reflective teacher pays keen attention to the reactions and development of the students in order to point out the areas of learning.
